The Prophet’s (S.A.W.S) Acts of Worship during Hajj

1. Realizing and embellishing Tawheed (Islamic monotheism)

The code of conduct of ‘Tawheed’ is of the foremost principle of Islam which can be generalized by the Prophet’s strict devotion towards it. Taking a start to the Hajj pilgrimage, he used to enter in the ritual until he had cast Jamratul-‘Aqabah.

His Talbiyah went as follows: “Labbayka Allahumma labbayk. Labbayka laa shareeka laka labbayk. Innal-hamda wan-n’imata laka wal-mulk, laa shareeka lak”.

2. Working Differently from Polytheists

Prophet (S.A.W.S) always denounced those who used to praise more than one God and praise us to not follow their footsteps. These are the ones who are seen in his stopping with the pilgrims at Arafah.

“All Jaahiliyah (pre-Islamic) traditions are under my feet,” the Prophet (S.A.W.S) declared.

3. Supplication and Humility during Hajj

Pursuing Almighty Allah in Tawaaf.

• Standing on the hills of Safa and Marwah and running between them.
• Offering lengthy supplications on the day of Arafah.
• Riding on the camelback.
• Raising his hands for begging for Sadaqah (Charity)
• Stopping on a spot after Salah has a special status of submissiveness during Hajj in Islam.

The significance of Tawaaf around Kaaba

Major important rites of worship during Hajj are Tawaaf around the Kaabah and performing Sa’ee between Safa and Marwa. Only Tawaaf around Ka’bah is lawful in Islam and the other Tawaafs people do around the grave, shrines are strictly prohibited.

Offer two rakahs when entering a mosque and doing abrupt Tawaaf is required as Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.S) has asked us. Praying Tahajuud and Witr in Tahiyyatul Masjid has a great reward from Allah. Circulating the Kaaba 7 times with audible prayers should be between fear and hope of worships.
