The Tahajjud prayer is one of the optional prayers in Islam but carries immense rewards for the believer. Performed only during the depths of the nights, it is one of the most preferred ways of getting close to Allah and seeking comfort from the problems of everyday life.

And from [part of] the night, pray with it as additional [worship] for you; it is expected that your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station. (Quran: 17: 79)

The Format of Tahajjud Prayer

For those who want to know how to perform Tahajjud prayer, there are only some simple steps. Here are some:

• Have and make pure intention of performing Tahajjud prayer and set an alarm to wake up at the last part of the night (usually around 12:00 AM to 1:00 AM).
• Try to remain clean and then perform ablution (Wudu).
• Move to a quiet place in your house, where you won’t be disturbed.
• Remove any worldly thoughts from your heart and only focus that you’re meeting with Allah SWT.
• Then offer two rakats, and if possible try to take it up to twelve.
• Try to wake up another member of your family to also have them benefit them from this incredibly rewarding Salah (Optional).
