1. Creation of Universe

According to the Holy Quran:

“Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?” (Surah Al-Anbiya 21:30)

The Big Bang theory coincides with this verse from the Quran. Allah told us centuries ago that the universe came into being from a single point that rapidly enlarged. Also, it affirms that water is the main component of all living things.

Furthermore, Allah says in the Holy Quran:

“And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] expander.” (Surah Adh-Dhariyat 51:47)

It was in the 20th century that scientists discovered that the universe was expanding. Allah explained this cosmic expansion about 1400 years ago.

2. Embryology

About the creation of man, Allah says in the Holy Quran:

“We created man from an extract of clay. Then We made him a drop in a secure resting place. Then We made the drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump, and We made from the lump bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators.” (Surah Al-Mu’minun 23:12-14)

Allah says in Surah Al-Naba:

“Have We not made the earth a resting place? And the mountains as stakes?”

In Surah Al-Hadid, Allah says:

“And We sent down iron, in which is strong material and benefits for people…”

Iron is one of the most important resources for humans. Allah mentions in the Holy Quran that He sent iron to us. This is a significant implication because it is a scientific discovery that iron came into being after explosions of gigantic stars and was carried to Earth through meteorites.

6. The Meeting of Seas

In the beautiful Surah Rahman, Allah says:

“He has released the two seas, meeting side by side. Between them is a barrier so neither of them transgresses.”

This reference to sea water’s behavior is remarkable. Geologists confirmed later that due to different water densities, salinities, and other properties when two seas meet, they do not mix immediately.

Allah mentions how the universe and galaxies co-exist. In surah al-Anbya Allah says:

“And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming”

In the Middle Ages, it was a popular belief that Earth is the center of the universe around which all the other bodies revolve. However, later on, scientists discovered the correct orbit system and its order. Similarly, in this verse, Allah tells about how the day changes into night and the night into the day because of the revolving objects in the solar system.

8. The Role of the Brain in Our Body

“No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock—A lying, sinning forelock.” (Surah Al-Alaq 96:15-16)

The above verse testifies that Allah’s teachings are not surface-level, but far-reaching to specific disciplines like neuroscience. Scientists discovered that the prefrontal cortex in the center of the brain plays a pivotal role in planning and decision-making. In this verse, the forelock refers to the center part of the brain.

9. The Surface of Oceans

In Surah An-Nur, Allah says:

“Or [they are] like darknesses within an unfathomable sea which is covered by waves, upon which are waves, over which are clouds—darknesses, some of them upon others. If one puts out his hand [therein], he can hardly see it…”

Geologists confirmed that at depths more than 200 meters, the light does not penetrate further, leading to complete darkness. Moreover, the description of waves upon waves means occurrence of water layers in the ocean because of varying densities.

10. Fingerprints

“Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? Yes, We are able [even] to proportion his fingertips.” (Surah Al-Qiyamah 75:3-4)

Fingerprint is an important discovery of science. While scientists discovered its significance later on, Allah told us about their role in the identification of people. It is nothing short of a miracle that every person’s fingerprints are unique, helping in identifying the person.
