To welcome the most awaited month of Islamic calendar ‘Ramadan', rejoice its arrival as Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was sent down on Allah’s last messenger (P.B.U.H) as guidance for mankind and Muslims refrain from eating and drinking during these 29/30 days by keeping a fast. Therefore it is advised to honor the most spiritual month with more spirituality, humility in the form of Quranic verses and Ahadith.
The purpose of fasting is to teach us self-restraint form the evil and to make us devoted towards Allah and Islam.
Oh, you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you may learn piety and righteousness” [Quran,2:183]
It is ordained in Quran to maintain Taqwa in Ramadan to feel the deprived and starved state of the poor to comply an act of righteousness, fear of Allah and total submission towards him. Quran says,
“Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may attain taqwaa.” (Quran, 2:183)
It is widely known as the month of Quran in which the gates of Heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed. Allah speaks in Quran about this sacred month,
“The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [th`e new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you, and perhaps you will be grateful.” (Quran: 21:85)
The act of charity is highly regarded in Islam. It brightens up the essence of sharing to help deserve the poor ones. Special importance is given to Charity in Islam as stated,
“The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: He who gives food for a fasting person to break his fast, he will receive the same reward as him, except that nothing will be reduced from the fasting person reward.” [Ahmad, at-Tirmidhee, Ibn Maajah, Ibn Hibbaan, Saheeh].”
A night in Ramadan is observed which is better than almost thousands of nights and it is the priced jewel of Ramadan. In that night, Muslims spends the whole night in prayer and seek forgiveness for their sins.
"Allah has made Laylat al-Qadr in this month, which is better than a thousand months, as Allaah says...The Night of Al-Qadr is better than a thousand months. Therein descend the angels and the Rooh [Jibreel (Gabriel)] by Allaah's Permission with all Decrees, there is peace until the appearance of dawn." -- Al-Qadar 97:1-5
